Thrillseekers at a Scottish social enterprise made a splash at a recent event for Hey Girls, raising more than \u00a3800 to fund the fight against period poverty.<\/p>\n

The team at Port Edgar Watersports CIC held its \u201cNo Buoys Allowed\u201d challenge on May 29, aiming to promote a more inclusive environment in the world of watersports.<\/p>\n

More than 50 women took part in the free sessions at the Queensferry-based sports centre, donating \u00a3870 to Hey Girls in the process.<\/p>\n

Sessions included paddleboarding, windsurfing, sailing and kayaking.<\/p>\n

Daisy Williams, Partner and Contracts Manager at Hey Girls, said: \u201cWe are so thankful to Port Edgar Watersports CIC for their support.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt looks like everyone had a fantastic day braving the Firth of Forth waters for such a good cause. All of us hope they had lots of fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvents like these really help us in our fight to end period poverty here in the UK and provide more people with access to free, safe and hygienic period products.\u201d<\/p>\n

The day also tied in with World Sailing\u2019s Steering the Course Festival, a similar worldwide event highlighting the barriers women face taking part in watersports.<\/p>\n

Port Edgar Watersports CIC was already a happy customer of Hey Girls, believing firmly in our message to fight back against period poverty and improve education around reproductive health.<\/p>\n

Roisin Fleming, Volunteer Coordinator at Port Edgar Watersports CIC, said: \u201cWhen we were looking for an organisation to support, Hey Girls was a no brainer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a woman in watersports, I understand how much of a barrier periods can be \u2013 whether it\u2019s a lack of access to products or feelings of embarrassment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese can all make the world of watersports seem so inaccessible for women, which is why we are so excited to be working with Hey Girls on this project.\u201d<\/p>\n
