{"id":122183,"date":"2023-07-03T09:01:27","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T09:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/?p=122183"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:49:51","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T13:49:51","slug":"our-2022-impact-report-is-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/news\/our-2022-impact-report-is-live\/","title":{"rendered":"Our 2022 impact report is live!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe will not stop fighting until the UK is rid of period poverty once and for all\u201d \u2013 that is our message as we release our hard-hitting <a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/about\/hey-girls-social-impact\/\">report on our impact in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last year saw us surpass the astonishing milestones of donating 30 million period products and saving 780 million disposables from going to landfill since our launch in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>We operate on a buy one, donate one model, matching every purchase with a donation to our community partners across the UK \u2013 including foodbanks and women\u2019s refuges.<\/p>\n<p>Our commercial partners include big names like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airportsinternational.com\/article\/lhr-period-product-partnership-launches\">Heathrow Airport<\/a>, Mitie and <a href=\"https:\/\/why.lyreco.com\/news\/hey-girls-helping-to-end-period-poverty\/\">Lyreco<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other milestones detailed in the report include supporting more than 23,500 young people to feel confident about taking part in sports while on their period through our involvement in the Big Sister project.<\/p>\n<p>Kate Smith, our Co-Founder and Director, said: \u201cThis has been an incredible year for us as a social enterprise and it is great to know more people are receiving support against period poverty thanks to our work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat feeling is bittersweet however, knowing there are still people experiencing period poverty in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incredible year included the passing of the historic Period Products Act in our native Scotland, making access to free products a legal right for all in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to have played such a big role in making the law a reality \u2013 and now want to achieve the same across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We announced numerous new commercial partnerships in the last year, including <a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/news\/henkel-joins-fight-against-period-poverty\/\">Henkel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/news\/insurance-giant-joins-our-fight-against-period-poverty\/\">AXA UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The number of community partners we support also more than doubled from 150 to 300 in just 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>The team also delivered 50 \u201cTrain the Trainer\u201d sessions, equipping teachers, wellbeing officers, support workers and business leaders with the tools they need to better understand and support people with periods.<\/p>\n<p>Kate added: \u201cOur family was inspired to launch Hey Girls because of our own personal experiences with period poverty \u2013 something we do not want anyone else to experience again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to our amazing partners, we are gradually getting closer to making that dream a reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all so thankful to all our supporters and look forward to an even bigger and better future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Impact-Report-2022-FINAL.pdf-reduced.pdf\">Read the 2022 impact report in full<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about how period dignity schemes can benefit your business, visit our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sandbox.heygirls.co.uk\/katya_staging\/wholesale\/employers\/\">For Employers page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cWe will not stop fighting until the UK is rid of period poverty once and for all\u201d \u2013 that is our message as we release our hard-hitting report on our impact in 2022.
